Caduceus + Medusa

Tattoo commission for a pediatric ICU nurse. The request was to find a way to replace the serpents on the traditional staff of Hermes with Medusa. Originally, the commissioner had suggested a decapitated head, but I thought making her a torso would give me more opportunities to give her some character. Placing the hair-snakes was particularly challenging.

I like to call her “Cadusa,” because I like portmanteaus a lot.
